Dr. Calvo is an associate in the electromechanical department. His practice focuses on patent prosecution and opinion work in technical disciplines ranging from signal processing to biomedical devices. He is a qualified European Patent Attorney (EQE, 2010).

He also specialises in Spanish and Community Design prosecution. Dr. Calvo regularly serves as an expert in patent infringement and nullity litigation and provides expert opinions in cases involving design rights.

Before joining ABG, Dr. Calvo worked as an engineer and manager in the technical department of Spanish IP firm Udapi & Asociados (2000-09).

Prior to his patent career, Dr. Calvo was a professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Zaragoza (1994-2000), where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses and worked in several research areas, including direct numerical simulations of reactive turbulent flows and simulations of flows in stratified porous media. He has published papers in refereed journals (Physics of Fluids, etc.) and given presentations at international meetings. He did his thesis work, in part, at U.C. Berkeley and the N.A.S.A. Institute for Computational Mechanics in Propulsion in Ohio.

Dr. Calvo is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in English.
