Dr. Carrero is a patent adviser in the chemistry department. Her practice is focused on patent prosecution and opinion work in the areas of pharmaceuticals and chemistry, particularly in relation to particle drug delivery systems and polymers.

Before she joined ABG, Dr. Carrero worked in the field of Supramolecular Chemistry at the MCBIM group (University of Leiden, Holland). She later worked at Dextra (Reading, UK) on the synthesis of carbohydrates and afterwards was involved in a research project on potential cartilage protectors using advanced NMR and molecular modeling techniques at the Institute of Chemical Research (CSIC, Seville). She did her doctoral thesis on the synthesis of lectin mimetics as anti-HIV drugs at the Medicinal Chemistry Institute (CSIC, Madrid).

She has published papers in peer-reviewed journals (Angewandte Chemie, Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Journal of Organic Chemistry, etc).

Dr. Carrero is a native speaker of Spanish and is fluent in English and French.
